AIM Pilgrim Trust Collections Care Audit – Museum of Cambridge

Museum of Cambridge – AIM Pilgrim Trust collections care audit
£1,100

The Museum of Cambridge collection shares the extraordinary stories of the people of Cambridgeshire in a Grade II listed 17th Century building. We are eager to ensure the best care of our diverse and unique range of objects and the Collections Care Audit was a great opportunity to help us reflect on how to achieve this.

After receiving the grant, we were assigned Claire Fry and Sophia Oelman of Spencer & Fry to carry out the audit who was professional, knowledgeable, and thorough in their approach. We really enjoyed their visit to the Museum, where we were able to discuss in detail how to assess and improve the care of our collections.

The report produced from the audit is comprehensive, with clear recommendations and an action plan which is going to be invaluable in helping us update our Collections Care Plan. One of the priorities we are already exploring is the introduction of an environmental monitoring system, which will help us to collect and assess data of environmental conditions in the various areas of the Museum and storage areas.
