AIM Pilgrim Trust Collections Care Audit – Museum of Farnham

AIM grant £1,100

The Museum of Farnham holds a collection of around 20,000 objects relating to the social history material found in, produced in, or closely associated with, Farnham and its surrounding villages.

The AIM Pilgrim Trust audit has helped staff prioritise their work and the findings will directly feed into the collections management plan being written this year. The report highlighted a greater need to address issues at the museum’s offsite store and confirmed the need for a more suitable environmental monitoring system.

Our intentions following this audit are:

  1. Write an updated collections management plan, using the report as a guide in areas.
  2. Address the issue of environmental monitoring equipment by applying for an AIM Pilgrim Trust Collections care grant.
  3. Create action plan for improving basic care in the museum’s offsite store.

“The AIM Pilgirm trust has given staff great confidence in working through the sometimes overwhelming tasks of collections management in the museum, feeling better informed from a certified professional. It will help us build upon our good practices by improving our weaknesses.”
