Energy Bills Discount Scheme – deadline to apply for the Additional Energy and Trade Intensive Industries (ETII) discount is 25 July.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero hosted a webinar on applying for the energy support scheme, please click here for the slides from this session>>
And to help applicants, the museums team at DCMS have provided the following information:
- Applicants should not delay registering with the portal. Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) officials should issue successful applicants with a certificate confirming eligibility in a week, however applicants must then have their details matched by their supplier: this can cause delays where a third party/intermediary complicates the supply chain, and energy suppliers will only liaise with DESNZ, which adds time and complexity. It’s worth making yourself known to your supplier if you have a good/direct relationship with them. We strongly recommend aiming to have submitted and received certification by the 25 July deadline, as we aren’t clear on how DESNZ will treat last-minute applications if clarifications from applicants are required.
- You should apply even if you would not immediately benefit due to the terms of your existing contract if you expect your circumstances to change, or to face e.g. Winter price spikes, before the scheme expires in March 2024.
- DESNZ do seem pragmatic, but you do need to provide clear evidence of your status. If your organisation type falls under multiple types, you could choose the category for which you have the most/best evidence, and Local Authority services may find the LA route easiest as floorplans can be provided in lieu of more onerous evidence of function.
- DESNZ colleagues couldn’t give a definitive answer, but thought that collection stores would be eligible for claims even though they might not be revenue generating, because they’re otherwise integral to the overall museum’s functioning.
