This session will introduce AIM’s grants, including our exciting new grant offer ‘Museum Fundamentals’. AIM’s Grants Officer Fiona Woolley will introduce the funding opportunities open to members in 2025. Attendees are very welcome to ask questions, and Fiona will be available to discuss eligibility and projects after the presentation.
NEW Grant – Museum Fundamentals
AIM understands that our members need support, advice, and funding to help with core museum activities, including caring for collections – the most fundamental part of being a museum. AIM has a very long standing partnership with the Pilgrim Trust, which has supported small museums to care for and conserve their collections. We know that this funding is invaluable to AIM members, but that more support is needed. Our members have told us that grant programmes are the most essential service we provide and asked us to advocate for:
- Funding core costs
- Funding for building maintenance
- Funding for back of house projects
We are very pleased that, with new support from the Julia Rausing Foundation, alongside our existing Pilgrim Trust funding, we are opening a new grant programme in 2025 – Museum Fundamentals. The Museum Fundamentals grant pot has circa £300K to award in 2025.
How much can I apply for?
Grants of up to £20,000 will be available with applications welcomed each Spring and Autumn.
Funding fundamental museum activity.
Museums use their collections to tell stories and connect with visitors: to discover meaning behind objects and heritage, educate and entertain, inform, and inspire. To do this they must know what is in their collection to see what stories they can tell and to have well-looked-after objects they can research, interpret, and display. Museum Fundamentals will support AIM members with these core activities.
Who should attend?
Small to medium museum members, with a footfall of 50,000 visitors per annum or less.
How to book
Online event exclusively for AIM members. Free to attend.
