Hallmarks at Home – Introduction to collections care – FULLY BOOKED
Where: Zoom online forum
Time: 11:00 - 12:30
PLEASE NOTE, THIS SESSION IS NOW FULLY BOOKED.
AIM and the Institute of Conservation (Icon) have joined forces to deliver a training session on collections care as part of the Hallmarks at Home programme.
This session is an introduction to collections care, particularly for volunteer-run museums or those without specialist collections staff. It is designed to inform your approach to collections care, taking into consideration the challenges brought on by the pandemic. It will help to further your understanding of appropriate collections care activity in your museum and increase your confidence in tackling collection care issues.
This session will explore the concept of remedial and preventive conservation. It will help you to identify the main agents of deterioration and consider strategies for managing them. The session will help enable the planning of future collections care activity, including working with specialist conservators.
The session will be led by Sarah Paul ACR. Sarah started her conservation career as a textile conservator and has worked for both private and public organisations. She then spent nine years working in an advisory role, supporting Museums, Archives and Libraries in Wales to find solutions to a vast range of collections care issues.
We will get in touch a few days before the session to gather some information about your experience of caring for your collections. We are keen to hear about any specific collections care concerns you would like the session to address.
11am – 12.30pm Wednesday 22 September.
