Hallmarks at Home – Successful museum interpretation – FULLY BOOKED

THIS SESSION IS NOW FULLY BOOKED.

Interpretation is at the heart of museums, without it, museums are merely a collection of objects, but what is it and how can we do it better?

This workshop will introduce several types of interpretation and how these connect to our collections, from object labels to graphic panels, interactive exhibits, guided tours and digital interpretation, including:

  • Understanding what interpretation is
  • How to plan interpretation
  • How to produce content and text for interpretation
  • Understanding how to use professional support
  • Outline costs for interpretation.

The workshop supports AIM’s latest Success Guide – Successful Museum Interpretation, due to be published at the beginning of November.

The Success Guide author and workshop host, Ruth McKew, is Director of Headland Design, part of a multidisciplinary team that design and deliver a huge range of interpretation for museums and historic sites across the UK. Ruth has worked in museums for over 20 years and specialises in interpretive planning which supports the delivery of engaging and successful interpretation and exhibitions.

11am – 12.30pm Wednesday 2 November.
