AIM Training Grants

AIM Training Grants are available to support member museums to develop the skills and expertise of their workforce, either paid or voluntary.

What we’re looking for

AIM members can apply for up to £300 to support training and development. This can cover:

  • Courses, seminars and workshops, including online remote courses and training
  • Museum conferences
  • Museum study visits
  • Mentoring placements.

We can support costs related to fees, accommodation (where distance travel is involved) and travel.

AIM Conference

AIM members are entitled to apply for a training grant to cover the cost of a ticket for AIM Conference. This applies to the AIM member Day 1 and Day 2 combined ticket, and Day 1 or Day 2 tickets only. The training grant can’t be used to cover the cost of the social events.

AIM Conference 2023 is taking place at Surgeon’s Quarter, Edinburgh on 15 and 16 June. Tickets will go on sale in January 2023.

Eligibility criteria

Applicant museums must be AIM members and priority will be given to smaller museums receiving less than 20,000 visitors p.a.

The maximum grant is £300. Preference will be given to staff members and volunteers of museums that have not previously benefitted. We cannot support retrospective applications and can only support multiple applications from one museum up to a total value of £300 per museum per year.
