Salary: £27,000 gross per annum

Hours: Full time

We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Assistant Curator, to join our team on a full or part time basis.

As the hub of learning at Celtic Harmony Camp, the Prehistory Centre is an indoor space with a Stone to Iron Age exhibition and reconstruction of a Palaeolithic Cave.

We are looking for a curatorial assistant to develop events and exhibitions in the Prehistory Centre, through partnerships with museums and other cultural organisations. Installations will show-case artefacts and art, creating themes inspired by our natural and cultural heritage. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the planning and delivery of engaging exhibitions that explore cultural themes and create a sense of discovery. The role will include fundraising for exhibitions and engagement programmes including researching, identifying and bid writing for trusts and lottery.

As Curatorial Assistant, you will work closely with the CEO, contributing to all aspects of exhibition planning and delivery. From the development of exhibitions to liaising with artists, lenders and the education and marketing team, you’ll ensure exhibitions run smoothly on time, and within budget. You will also play a key role in organising public talks and overseeing the creation of exhibition guides. Your expertise and organisational skills will ensure exhibitions both challenge and engage our visitors. The role involves the recruitment and retention of volunteer tour guides and includes working weekends and some evenings to facilitate centre opening and events.
