Job Title: Head of Operations
Contract: Maternity cover contract (1 December 2020 – 15 October 2021)
Based at: The Lightbox, Chobham Road, Woking, GU21 4AA
Reports to: Director
Hours: 9.00am – 5.00pm. Occasional out of hours work will be required for events for which time off is given in lieu
Salary: £30-32,000 dependent on experience

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Lightbox is looking for an experienced professional to provide maternity cover as the Head of Operations. The role will be part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and will have three main areas to cover:

• Visitor experience and operational excellence
• Management of all commercial trading company activities including the Shop, Café and Venue Hire
• Revenue generation

The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience of managing a similar visitor experience and/or commercial focused department. The role requires excellent people management skills, strong organisation and a good business understanding of what makes commercial activities in a visitor facing organisation successful and profitable. The candidate must lead on the delivery of an excellent visitor experience and use feedback and data to collate insights to report to the Board of Trustees. The role involves managing several budgets so a proven track record of delivering annual budgets is essential.

Management of the Visitor Experience Team will include working with the Visitor Experience Manager on visitor data and audience development along with topline managing the team; working with the Retail Manager to ensure the Shop is on brand, well-stocked, meets budgets and is well managed via the EPOS system; working with the Volunteer Co-ordinator to manage the organisation’s large volunteer team; working with the Events Officer to deliver the venue hire budgets and ensure all public and private events are delivered to a high customer service standard. The role will also manage the Café franchise and must ensure they are on brand and also delivering excellent customer service.
