Preston City Council’s Cultural Service has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and creative senior manager to join the leadership team at the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library.
The position of Programmes and Collections Manager will provide expertise and innovation in collections development, management and access at the Harris and lead an ambitious events and exhibitions programme for the Harris and the City.
The Harris will submit a Round 2 application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund in November 2020 for the £10m Re-Imagining the Harris #HarrisYourPlace project, an ambitious project supported by key partners. If successful, the post holder will play a central role in delivering this transformational project.
Preston has a dynamic and growing independent cultural sector including artist led studios, youth led arts organisations, place making experts and innovative community practice. Working alongside the city’s institutions of the Harris, University of Central Lancashire and the two Councils, Preston is fast becoming a focal point for the arts, culture and leisure.
An emerging bold and transformational approach is developing, predominantly focused upon culture and regeneration, concentrated in the Harris Quarter area of the city centre, our city’s cultural and civic heart. This programme firmly places culture as a key catalyst for change in Preston with the Harris at the heart.
Hours of work will be flexible to suit the work requirements of the role and may include working some Bank Holidays and occasional evening and weekend work.
