Get involved with DCMS Love Culture week
To celebrate culture, DCMS will be highlighting: museums, galleries, heritage sites, libraries, cinemas and cultural organisations, big and small, across the UK from Monday 17 August. AIM members are invited to get involved on social media and there are ways that you can get your visitors involved too.
Key moment: Throwback Thursday
On Thursday 20 August, DCMS want you to join them and some famous faces in sharing #ThrowbackThursday snaps from your UK holidays and day trips of the past and say why you can’t wait to visit again.
We’re looking for sandy toes on Blackpool beach, childhood museum trips or watching your first film and would love it if you could take a look through the archives for a throwback image of your institution for corporate channels, and encourage the public to do the same.
Example social media posts
- There have been few changes at the museum between then and now. But the impact of the exhibition remains the same. Please book before you come and #EnjoySummerSafely #ThrowbackThursday
- Have I changed much since this picture? I still love the flicks, 30 years on. Cinemas are opening with new guidance in place to help you #EnjoySummerSafely #ThrowbackThursday
- Missed the movies? Cinemas are back open and have put in place guidance that will ensure your visit is safe, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the film #EnjoySummerSafely
- Fancy being a tourist without having to travel far? Step outside your doorstep and discover some of the best culture the UK has to offer #EnjoySummerSafely

We are proudly supporting the #EnjoySummerSafely campaign, and encouraging the public to feel inspired to get out and explore all the great culture right here in the UK that we’ve missed over the last few months.
From museums, galleries and cinemas to open-air theatres, historical palaces and heritage sites, many of the great tourist and visitor attractions have now reopened their doors to the public this summer.
On 20 August we want to fill social media with pictures of British holidays, day trips and all the fabulous culture we have on offer. Can you add a throwback picture of you, perhaps at a UK gallery, beach or museum, with the hashtags #EnjoySummerSafely and #ThrowbackThursday.
Just remember, booking in advance is now essential at many places so make sure you check out the visitor guidance before your trip, to ensure you aren’t missing important information. VisitBritain’s ‘Know Before You Go’ page offers plenty of advice so you can prepare and feel reassured before your visit
