New Digital Marketing Modern Apprenticeships From Museums Galleries Scotland

Museums Galleries Scotland, in partnership with Sixth Sense Training, have developed an exciting new opportunity to kick off the New Year. The brand new Digital Marketing Modern Apprenticeship Programme will allow six Scottish museums or galleries to offer an existing or new employee the chance to learn new skills while undertaking a nationally recognised qualification.

Through their apprenticeship, learners will deepen their understanding of their own organisation’s customers and how to best engage with them. They will learn how to develop an effective digital marketing strategy that will grow this customer base. At the end of the programme, the learners will gain an SCQF level 6 in Digital Marketing.

The programme continues MGS’s work to address the need for quality, affordable vocational training in Scotland’s museums, opening up new routes of entry and more diverse career paths within the sector. The programme follows three impactful MGS projects since 2011, which have seen 57 learners undertake one-year placements in 35 host museums across Scotland. 87% of these learners went on to find employment in the heritage, arts or third sector.

Museums who have previously supported a Modern Apprenticeship have reported that the learner brought a new dynamic to their organisation, fresh ideas and increased organisational capacity, while allowing the museum to take its work in new directions and reflect on current practice.

MGS are looking for host organisations that are passionate about developing a learning culture in their organisation and the wider sector; who want to develop their digital marketing offer; and are able to offer a real-life environment for their learner for the duration of the 9-12 month programme. Learners can be new or existing staff members, and organisations may be eligible to receive up to £4,000 Scotland’s Employer Recruitment Incentive (SERI) funding.

Applications close on Friday 1 March at 12 noon. For more information and to apply, see www.museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk/jobs
