Holst Victorian House (Holst Birthplace Trust)

Holst Birthplace Trust, responsible for Holst Victorian House in Cheltenham, is recruiting up to 4 new Trustees to join the Board with skills / experience in the following areas:

• Building conservation – The Museum is grade 2 listed, built in 1832, and is owned by the Trust. It requires regular preventive and restorative maintenance. We are looking for a candidate with a good understanding of (Victorian) historical building conservation and maintenance and some negotiating experience to help us manage the fabric of the building and optimise the cost of maintenance  within a constrained budget.
• Website and IT management – Our website and IT systems are basic, we are looking for someone with experience who can work magic with limited resources to enhance our IT and website and ensure it serves the Museum in the best way.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment:

Approximately 10 Trustee meetings, including a half day workshop, each year, plus about 1 day a week in between leading and doing particular initiatives.  Meetings are hybrid and we would like Trustees to come into the Museum fairly regularly, say monthly, to build their relationships with the staff and volunteers. Apart from occasional meetings (and these could be virtual) most of the work can be carried out remotely.

Daytime or evening meetings: Currently daytime but this is being revisited to meet the needs of Trustees with day-jobs.
