Whitchurch Silk Mill seeks a new Chair of Trustees to lead our vibrant and thriving museum into its next phase.
The Trust is at a pivotal point in its history. With silk weaving and silk ribbon weaving added to the Red List of Endangered Heritage Crafts in 2022, we are focused on creating a sustainable, secure future for our developing team of Weaver Tacklers. The Trust has secured approximately £170,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to support preliminary works and projects to build a new business model, create an Endowment Fund, and raise awareness of the ‘Whitchurch Silk’ brand.
Who we are looking for:
A new Trustee to become our Chair. The role involves five essential duties:
- Providing leadership, strategic influence, and effective networking.
- Acting as a spokesperson for Whitchurch Silk Mill Trust, effectively promoting it to both existing and prospective stakeholders.
- Ensuring that the Board operates effectively as a team.
- Promoting good governance standards both within and outside the boardroom.
- Supporting and participating in fundraising efforts to establish an endowment fund, and to cover future projects as well as ongoing running costs. We rely on the generosity of our donors and volunteers, which can never be taken for granted.
