Trustee vacancy – Friends of Dundonald Castle
Friends of Dundonald Castle SCIO is seeking new trustees to join our Management Committee Team. We are a heritage and community hub charity with a turnover exceeding £150k and are offering trustee roles on a voluntary basis.
Dundonald Castle is a scheduled ancient monument of international A-listed importance. It is run by the Friends of Dundonald Castle SCIO (FoDC), with support from Historic Environment Scotland. The friends operate from their Visitor Centre, which houses a café, retail space and a small museum/ educational space.
We offer heritage interpretation, castle tours and deliver a successful schools & wider groups educational programme (circa 100 visits per annum). We run community/ family engagement events in heritage, excavations and so much more, through our public & outreach activities. We are a top-rated visitor experience and wedding venue. We are a thriving community hub, offering space for several regular, local groups. FoDC are cited as an exemplar of practice by the groups we work with and by our partnership organisations.
FoDC trustees are seeking to build a sustainable, resilient future for the charity. To compliment the skills and knowledge mix of the existing trustees we are particularly looking for individuals with business experience or interests in:
- Catering and/ or Retail
- Fundraising and/ or Income Generation
As a trustee, you will act in the interests of the charity and its’ aims, to achieve best practice and ensure that we work within the legal and financial requirements of Scottish Charities organisation and our Constitution. There are approximately 10 to 12 evening meetings per year, which can be joined either online or in person.
We welcome all ages, stages and abilities, as well as any range of experience and perspectives. Having practical business and governance experience that can be implemented within a charity setting would be advantageous for these roles.
