Trustee vacancy – Petersfield Museum
Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery is currently looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees to provide strategic financial oversight and guidance to our small, but aspirational, accredited, independent Museum and Art Gallery.
The Treasurer will work closely with the Museum Director and other Trustees to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the organisation at this exciting time in our journey following completion of our National Lottery Heritage Fund supported redevelopment project in June 2021.
We envisage that the new Treasurer will shadow our current Finance Trustee / Treasurer for a period, before taking over responsibility for the financial stewardship of the Museum and Art Gallery in the longer term.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the financial management of the organisation, ensuring that accounts are properly maintained and records are up to date.
- Advise the Board of Trustees on financial matters and provide guidance on developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of regular financial reports to the Board of Trustees, including budgets, cashflow projections and financial statements – working with the Museum Director and Finance Officer.
- Monitor the financial performance of the organisation against agreed targets and work with the Museum Director to provide recommendations for improving financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and legislation, including filing of annual accounts and tax returns.
- Liaise with external auditors and other professional advisers to ensure compliance with best practice and relevant regulations.
Please visit our website: www.petersfieldmuseum.co.uk/workwithus for more information on the Museum and the role of Trustees.
- Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: 4 – 6 Board meetings a year, plus possible attendance at sub-committee meetings.
- Expected time commitment of 10 – 12 days per year.
- Daytime or evening meetings: Varied to suit.
For an informal discussion, in the first instance please contact our current Finance Trustee, Jeremy Mitchell at [email protected]
Closing date for applications: 31 August 2023.
