Trustee vacancy – Rose Street Cottage of Curiosities

Rose Street Cottage is a small living history site. It is a former dockworkers cottage and is dressed as such. As well as opening to the public, we have changing exhibitions, and we have living history days for both the public and private groups.

Building Manager – to oversee maintenance of the building, liaising with Swale Borough Council about repairs to the exterior, organising internal works with local trades for the interior, ensuring routine checks like fire safety are completed. Might suit someone in the building trade, or in estates management.

Treasurer – to keep the accounts and finances of the organisation in order, complete returns to the Charity Commission, enter into contracts for utilities, oversee purchase of gift shop stock, budget forecasts. Might suit someone with accounts/bookkeeping/finance experience. The annual turnover is less than £10,000.

Secretary– To ensure the museum is run in accordance with its constitution and the Charity Commissions guidance as well as meeting the requirements of Swale Borough Council who the museum is run on behalf of, liaising with Swale Borough Council over running issues and tourism, liaising with various local heritage groups and Wheels of Time, assisting with other requirements such as policy writing, grant applications and training volunteers.

Number of meetings per annum/time commitment: A monthly meeting of the trustees plus time to carry out these duties.

Daytime or evening meetings: Daytime but can be flexible
