Trustee vacancy – Tenby Museum & Art Gallery

About us

Tenby Museum & Art Gallery is a long-established museum with an excellent reputation for the quality of its collections and displays is facing challenges as the effects of Covid and cost of living begin to bite. Financially sound and with professional staff it is looking to strengthen its governance structure. Forward looking, the plan is to review the museum model to ensure that it has a vital, viable and sustainable future.

Finance trustee

The role is to oversee the financial affairs of the museum.  The main focus of the work is to analyse the monthly accounts. develop budgets, cash flow forecasts and business plans looking to the future for the museum. Monthly accounts and payroll are currently handled locally externally.

Marketing trustee

The challenge is to develop and implement a strategic marketing and communications plan for the museum and to identify and grow brand awareness with the museum’s stakeholders and funders. To guide museum staff who have training in digital marketing to achieve greater impact with the local community and visiting public.

Human Resources trustee

The role involves the oversight of employee contracts, recruitment, legal aspects of volunteering, salaries administration, and pension enrolment for a small team. The right person will keep fellow trustees up to date on all aspects of staff management and best practice, ensuring long-term strategic oversight of the museum’s personnel requirements.

Number of meetings/time commitment

The Trustees meet monthly during the day and meetings take a maximum of two hours.   There will be work to be done outside of these times and other trustees can be available individually or in groups to take any plan forward. The museum is in Pembrokeshire and while ideally trustees are located in the county this is not essential as meetings can be held via Zoom.

Closing date 30 September 2022
