About Us

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other public spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.

Guided by our ‘welcome everyone’ objective, we have a new and ambitious plan to improve access and engage local underserved communities with the parks and everything they have to offer.

We are currently seeking an Access and Engagement Manager to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role

As Access and Engagement Manager, you will manage, implement and deliver our new Access and Engagement plan.

You won’t be starting from scratch. To start, you will focus on building capacity, you will co-ordinate the Access and Engagement group to create guidelines and frameworks, and strengthen and develop partnerships so current and future engagement work can be more effective and impactful.

You will also identify and work with local communities, teams and partners to develop a plan for each park (or group of parks), piloting initiatives and managing resources and budgets to improve access and participation.

Additionally, you will:

  • Recruit and line manage the Access and Engagement team and volunteers
  • Oversee the successful implementation of the nature play programme
  • Evaluate impact and prepare programme reports
  • Develop an Access and Engagement handbook
  • Deliver access and sensory audits for each park
  • Work with Communications, Marketing and Digital teams to promote the programme

About You

To be considered as an Access and Engagement Manager, you will need:

  • Experience developing and implementing initiatives to increase access and engagement of underserved communities with the outdoors
  • Experience building relationships with local communities, organisations and partners
  • Experience working to agreed plans and budgets, monitoring progress, evaluating impact and producing reports
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in IT, including MS Office
