Join the team developing Gainsborough’s House as one of the leading heritage attractions in East Anglia! Gainsborough’s House will be a major visitor attraction in the East of England as a world-class museum, art gallery, and study centre.  It has built four new exhibition galleries to display historic and contemporary exhibitions of international appeal and expand its ability to attract audiences. Due to open in late Autumn this year, these apprentice roles will be a key part of the team maintaining the venue and maximising the visitor experience.

Facilities Services Operative Apprenticeship

Training Provider: Hospitality Industry Training

Apprenticeship Level: Level 2

The Facilities Apprentice will be part of the team that maintains this impressive venue.

This contract apprenticeship post is responsible to the Facilities Manager and based in Sudbury, Suffolk. Responsibilities will include ensuring that Gainsborough’s House buildings and grounds meet the needs of both visitors and staff.

The apprenticeship, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation, is designed to offer an alternative route for young people to access a career in the cultural heritage sector. You will be mentored throughout the contract to help support your professional development and receive formal training.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, demonstrable enthusiasm for the sector and willingness to learn. You will be someone who can work under your own initiative and as part of a small team. A flexible and positive approach is essential.

Commercial Apprentice

The Commercial Apprentice will be part of the team that helps to provide an excellent visitor experience.

This contract apprenticeship post, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is responsible to the Commercial Manager and based in Sudbury, Suffolk. The role of Commercial Apprentice will give extensive and varied experience of working in all aspects of commercial activities at Gainsborough’s House. Working alongside staff and volunteers the position will be part of a team delivering service to the highest standard and building a strong reputation for excellence across our commercial offer. Using creativity, good organisational and excellent interpersonal skills, the candidate will develop and enhance this public facing role communicating with people at all levels.

Through mentoring, formal training and practical learning in the daily duties within reception, retail, catering, venue hire, group visits, events and weddings, this role will enable the candidate to gain key skills to further their personal development in a commercial and particularly a retail field.

The apprenticeship is designed to offer an alternative route for young people to access a career in the cultural heritage sector. You will be mentored by a leading external trainer throughout the contract to help support your professional development.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills and demonstrable service skills. Good ICT skills are required. You will be someone who can work under your own initiative and as part of a small team. A flexible, positive and pleasant approach is essential.

Marketing & Design Apprentice

This contract apprenticeship based in Sudbury, Suffolk will provide you with an opportunity to gain invaluable skills as an in-house creative. Projects will include those for print and digital that will help us utilise our new branding and direction when we re-open. You will help to produce a variety of promotional items that will be used internally, also to encourage public engagement and inspire private and commercial sponsors. These could include anything from brochures, posters, internal material, to social media and website content.

The apprenticeship, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is designed to offer an alternative route for young people to access a career in the cultural heritage sector. You will be mentored throughout the contract to help you develop your industry experience in graphic design.

We are looking for a confident and creative candidate with strong typographic and layout skills, who is eager to learn how to set up and manage an in-house design resource. You will be someone who can work under your own initiative and as part of a small team. A flexible and positive approach is essential.
