Archivist / Librarian – New Forest Heritage Centre

Job Title: Archivist / Librarian
Salary: £35,000
Hours: 2 days per week
Location: New Forest Heritage Centre, Lyndhurst, Hampshire

We’re looking for an experienced archivist/librarian to join our team and to provide hands-on and strategic leadership of our library and special collections. The postholder will help to make the library more accessible for staff, volunteers and members of the public and better enable this unique resource to further the aims of the New Forest Heritage Trust. The role is part-time (equivalent 2 days per week).

The Christopher Tower Library

This is widely recognised as the most comprehensive special collection of 50,000 books, maps, photographs, postcards, letters, manuscripts, and ephemera relating to The New Forest. It is a reference library and has grown in just 30 years to be a highly respected regional resource – used by academics, local residents, researchers and statutory bodies.

The role

The Archivist/Librarian’s role will be to lead the Trust’s archival activities, tackling key areas for development with a strong, authoritative, and pragmatic approach. The role would also involve mentoring and line managing our 3-day per week Collections Officer.
