Collections Care Officer – Shakespeare Birthplace Trust

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is seeking a full-time Collections Care Officer to join its Collections department on a permanent contract. The role will develop and deliver collections care and preventive conservation activities to professional standards, ensuring our collections are preserved and maintained for future generations.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team, the successful candidate will play a vital role in providing access to collections through the Trust’s exhibitions programme and displays in the Shakespeare family homes and will assist the Curator in the delivery of curatorial activity across the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in museums or historic houses with a knowledge and understanding of the principles of preventative conservation and a willingness to learn new skills. They will also be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, leading and managing staff and volunteers. They will demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail, good IT skills including Word, Excel and Email and experience in using a collections database. Also a degree in a related subject is required.
