Overview

The National Paralympic Heritage Trust (NPHT) has embarked on a new exciting 5-year Strategy – ‘Becoming Seamlessly Inclusive 2023-2028’. To help us on this journey this is an exciting new post for someone with great experience in collections care, use and engagement. We are looking for a creative, self-motivated, independent strategic thinker with the ability to juggle pioneering programmes of work, who enjoys working with a diverse team.

The NPHT is a young dynamic and diverse organisation, and a leader in accessible heritage with the ambition to reach a million people over the next five years supported by several major heritage funders including the Arts Council England as an NPO, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Rothschild Foundation, Museums Association Esmee Fairbairn, Wolfson Foundation, Art Fund and Garfield Weston.

Background

The NPHT was formed in 2015 with the core purpose to ‘enlighten and inspire future generations by celebrating, cherishing and bringing the Paralympic heritage and its stories of human endeavour to life’ and in doing so to challenge negative perceptions of disability. Our purpose is to celebrate, cherish and bring the heritage to life, in a compelling and evocative way, securing a legacy, feeding a growing public interest since London 2012, changing attitudes, and instilling national pride.

Role of Collections Engagement Officer 

  1. Management of the Trusts Collections donations and loans operations both physical and digital
  2. Management of the Collections partnership plans with Discover Bucks Museum (DBM) and Buckinghamshire Archives (BA) who care for the collections
  3. Supporting and building academic partnerships
  4. Development and use of the collections in engagement and learning including digital as directed by the Learning Manager
  5. Management of the Trust’s permanent and temporary displays
  6. Supporting the Management of trainees with direction from the Learning Manager and with support from the Team Diversity Officer

This is an exciting new post for someone with excellent experience in collections care and use. We are looking for a creative, self-motivated, independent strategic thinker with the ability to juggle pioneering programmes of work, who enjoys working with a diverse team.

March 2024 to end of February 2026 with a view to becoming permanent.

The proposed fee is £27,000 to £30,000, depending on experience.
