Oxford University’s Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM) contain some of the world’s most significant collections. They comprise some of the best-known cultural institutions in the UK: the Ashmolean Museum of Art & Archaeology, Bodleian Libraries, History of Science Museum, Museum of Natural History, Oxford Botanic Garden & Arboretum, and the Pitt Rivers Museum.
The Gardens, Libraries and Museums are integral to the delivery of the University’s strategic aims of teaching, research and widening participation. They also embody the public face of the University, representing the front door to the wealth of knowledge and research curated by and generated at Oxford. Collectively they welcome approximately 3.3 million visitors each year.
We are seeking an experienced community engagement practitioner with an enthusiasm for community/public participation in arts, heritage, and culture to join the GLAM Community Engagement team. You will devise, deliver, and evaluate outreach and in-reach programmes across GLAM’s six institutions with a focus on under-represented and marginalised adult and intergenerational groups.
You will use your expertise to support and guide colleagues across GLAM in people-centred, co-production approaches and work alongside team members to champion inclusion and accessibility throughout the organisation. The role will require a self-directed and motivated individual who will have significant opportunity to shape work to meet objectives as set out within the GLAM Strategic Plan and our Arts Council England funding agreement, and to create new partnerships and collaborations at local and national level and beyond.
This is a full time, 12-month fixed-term post. Hybrid working is in place in the GLAM offices and the post-holder will be expected to work onsite a minimum of 3-4 days per week.
The closing date for all applications will be at 12noon on Tuesday 5 July 2022.
