Term: 1 year fixed term contract
Location: Newark Castle & Gardens, Newark & Sherwood District Council, Nottinghamshire

Newark Castle and Gardens are being transformed and you could be part of this exciting opportunity.
Our vision is to create a significant, culturally creative heritage venue at the heart of the town, making Newark a better place to work, live and visit, and increasing the diversity of local people who engage with the heritage for their inspiration, enjoyment and wellbeing.
The Castle is an iconic and historically important landmark and a hidden gem in Nottinghamshire. Exciting plans are in progress to develop the site into a destination attraction for the town. The Building Bridges project is funded by a National Lottery Heritage Fund development stage grant. The project will develop inspiring interpretation, landscaping and lighting designs co-created with local communities and an inclusive and engaging programme of activity.
This post is initially a 1 year contract but could be extended for a further 5 years following review and a successful Delivery phase application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for further funding.
This community focused role is pivotal in finding new ways to engage with diverse and under-represented communities to develop our plans and create interpretation and activity that is meaningful and impactful. Our ideal candidate will have experience of planning, co-ordinating and delivering outreach, learning and community engagement. You will be able to develop strong external partnerships in the community, embedding community involvement into the project plans and proposals to support our vision.
We offer a competitive salary, enrolment in the local government pension scheme, flexible hours, hybrid working, a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, 1 days’ paid volunteering leave and discounted membership at one of our four gyms in the district.
