Community / Learning Officer – Mary Rose Museum
Salary: £21,029
Hours: 18.5 hours per week (over 3 days)
Term: Fixed Term until 28 February 2025
Location: Mary Rose Trust, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, PO1 3PY
Closing date: 12:00 am 27 July 2023
This is a key role for the Mary Rose Trust, where you will be helping to deliver our Community and Learning initiatives. You will have a keen eye for learning and community excellence, to ensure that we provide the best possible learning environment, that not only informs but inspires future generations about the Mary Rose, her crew and artefacts and Tudor history.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering workshops to schools and community groups
- Developing the learning programme, with a specific focus on history and STEM
- Building relationships with community partners
- Training and monitoring the extended Learning Team
- Working with the Marketing Department to promote workshops and education visits, including social media, informing website updates
- Act as liaison with teachers and community partners and support booking and timetabling for Learning Department
- Delivering virtual and outreach activity
- Running special events e.g. home educators, EBP
- Resource management e.g. purchasing and fixing costumes, and finance duties
- Representation of Mary Rose Trust regionally and locally
- Delivering and reporting on special projects
Key skills and experience:
- Experience in a learning/school support role
- Experience in creating learning materials, workshops and/or community projects
- Administration
- Excellent people skills with the ability to build good working relationships
- Ability to manage internal and external correspondence
- Excellent organisational, IT, administrative, written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to work flexibly in order to incorporate changing work priorities
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities calmly and effectively
