The Trust is seeking a full time Curator to manage the Trust’s significant and wide-ranging collection of railway artefacts and Museum.
The position will be based at West Shed, the HQ and Museum of the Trust in Ripley, Derbyshire.
The position will cover variety of roles from curatorial work, public engagement, planning activities, grant applications to general management as and when required. Self-motivation, energy, and an ability to work with paid staff, volunteers, and the public is essential. The role is an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified graduate. No advance knowledge of railways is required.
Hours will be 37 hours per week, with flexibility around weekends or special events. Starting salary will be £23,088 with advancements based on extending ability.
The principal purposes of this post are to:
- Take the lead on all collections related activity, including managing, researching, documenting and developing the collections.
- Assist with the forward-facing promotion of the PRCLT including conducting tours, talks and ensuring a positive visitor experience.
- Contribute to research around the PRCLT collections and disseminating this through appropriate channels.
- Provide collections support to the development and income generation projects across the Trust.
