Curatorial Project Assistant – Royal Engineers Museum
Salary: £25,000
Hours: Full time
Term: 24 month contract
Location: Royal Engineers Museum, Brompton Barracks, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4UG
Closing date: 11:59 pm 13 December 2024
We are looking to recruit a Curatorial Project Assistant to join the Museum Team on the “War Winning Engineering” project, made possible by money raised by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Focusing on our 6000 original blueprint plans of Mulberry Harbour, built for the Normandy invasion in 1944, the postholder will join the Museum’s curators in the research, cataloguing, conservation, digitisation and display of this archive. They will supervise volunteer teams working on the project and support the creation of an exhibition on engineering in World War Two.
This post would suit someone new to working in Museums and Archives who is keen to develop their skills and knowledge of curatorial, collections care, digitisation and exhibition project work. Training opportunities and support will be provided, and the post will work closely with senior Museum staff.
