An exciting opportunity for a Deputy Manager to assist in the day-to-day operational management of two museums showcasing Dudley’s rich history.

Dudley MBC Museums Services has two fantastic venues – Dudley Museum @ the Archives and The Red House Glass Cone, both locations also form part of the Black Country UNESCO Global Geopark. Our collections and exhibitions on our sites are varied, covering centuries of Dudley’s history and include geology, glass, fine art and archaeology.
The role
The Deputy Site Manager will assist the Museums Manager and the Business Operations Manager in the day to day operational management of both the Red House Glass Cone (RHGC), a Grade II* listed and a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and Dudley Museum @ the Archives (DMAG). Responsibilities will include:
- Management of the visitor centre and retail shop.
- Managing front of house staff and deputising for the Museums Manager, as and when required.
- Reporting and overseeing small repairs and maintenance jobs within the venues.
- Assisting with the planning and execution of events on site.
We are looking for someone who can work well under pressure and can work to tight deadlines and has excellent customer care skills. You will be flexible, possess a hands-on approach, be self-motivated, and have the ability to manage your own workload and those of others.
This post will require evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working (on a rotational basis). The successful candidate will be a key holder to all museum buildings and will be required to attend out of hours for emergency call outs.
