For our distinctive, important, scholarly, purposeful, and intellectually entrepreneurial art institution. Founded in Whitechapel in 1915, the charity / museum reinvented itself in 2002 as a mainstream art and academic institution focussing on the extensive Jewish and wider immigrant contribution to British visual culture since 1900.
