Fundraiser – Bow Street Police Museum

We are seeking an experienced Fundraiser to join our museum team and lead on gaining income from Trusts and Foundations and Corporate Partners.
We are a very young, independent museum focusing on the rich and unique story of Bow Street and its pivotal role in the history of policing and criminal justice since 1881. About the role
As our Fundraiser you will lead on gaining income from Trusts and Foundations. You will work closely with the Museum Manager and Board of Trustees and will develop strong relationships with our key stakeholders and partners. You will identify and generate new fundraising opportunities, from the corporate and philanthropic sectors.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Research and approach a range of Trusts and Corporates giving at the 4-5 figure level to contribute towards BSPM income targets for a range of projects and core funding.
- Manage a portfolio of relationships both Trusts and Corporates and ensure all income is accounted for, acknowledged and complies with our policies and financial requirements.
- Help collate information required to help develop strong cases for support.
- Prepare detailed progress reports according to Trusts’ and BSPM reporting cycles.
Location: Flexible. Regular meetings at the museum in Covent Garden, London WC2E 7AW.
Hours: Initial 6-month contract, 1-2 days a week. Days/hours worked are flexible.
Salary: This can be a freelance role or a part-time salaried role. Salary/fees will be up to £47k (full-time equivalent), depending on experience.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A proven track record in securing 4-5 figure grants, and similar size gifts from corporate partners.
- Experience in trust and grant bid writing in a professional setting within a charitable environment.
- Experience in gathering, understanding and presenting complex information and data
- Experience in cultivating relationships with funders, both via verbal and written methods of communication
- An ability to match donor interests with funding needs, and being creative in seeing how initiatives can be shaped or added to, to become more attractive to external funders.
- An ability to work on own initiative, to be pro-active in developing proposals and in solving problems and be able to achieve strict, multiple deadlines.
