Fundraising Assistant – The Royal Irish Regiment Charity

Project Background
Development of the Consolidated Museum, led by the Royal Irish Regiment, is a £13.6 million heritage project currently under the management of the Trustees of the Royal Irish Regiment Benevolent Fund. It will consolidate the collections and archives of the several antecedent regimental museums in Northern Ireland in a single learning-focused museum, with permanent galleries in Belfast and Enniskillen.
Job Purpose
The Royal Irish Regiment Charity is recruiting a well-rounded individual, with awareness of a variety of private and public fundraising sources. An ability to cultivate close and attentive relationships with supporters is essential, and an interest in heritage would be beneficial. We are looking for a collaborative worker who can assist in the delivery of a successful and innovative fundraising programme, working closely with colleagues, Trustees, and volunteers to enable the Charity to raise the funds to deliver its ambitions.
Key Roles
- Support the development of the Consolidated Museum’s forward plan.
- Assist with the execution of excellent stewardship for all supporters including major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate partners, and statutory bodies. Ensuring exemplary communication and appropriate credit, leading to long term relationships.
- Undertake a range of information gathering activities as required, including online funder research.
- Research and draft applications to public funding bodies and charitable trusts.
- Keep detailed and accessible records of all fundraising activity.
- Represent the Consolidated Museum at internal and external networking opportunities.
- Support the Regimental Heritage Officer in drafting correspondence and documentation, such as reports, briefings, applications, presentations, or other communication items to further development activity.
- Assist with the administration and delivery of fundraising events as required.
- Calendar administration for the Patron and Chair of the museum.
- Maintain all supporter data to GDPR standards.
- Carry out any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Regimental Heritage Officer.
Essential Skills and Experience
- High attention to detail, particularly regarding written work, budget and event planning.
- Good IT skills including databases.
- Ability to self-motivate, work as part of a small team, and support colleagues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of people.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience of working in a Heritage, Arts or Cultural Charity/Sector.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and diplomacy skills.
- Full drivers’ licence
Duration: The contract will be subject to a six-month probationary period and will be for an initial two-year fixed term, renewable annually thereafter.
Hours of Work: working pattern to be agreed upon appointment.
The Royal Irish Regiment Charity supports flexible and hybrid working. Core hours are 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday, with an occasional requirement to work evening and weekends in order to cover key events. Time off in lieu is provided for evening/weekend working.
You must be willing to travel outside Northern Ireland for business reasons, including occasional overnight or multi-day trips.
Line Management: You will work with and report to the Regimental Heritage Officer.
