Overview 

Aerospace Bristol is a museum going through an exciting period of change. Visitor numbers are increasing, we’re building strong links with our local community, and we have a busy programme of events running throughout the year. We’re also looking to the future and planning how the museum will grow, tell new stories, and develop our historic site at Filton.

We are now looking for a Fundraiser to help us maximize all funding opportunities, from Arts Council England and National Heritage Lottery to corporate partners and supporters. This role will play an important role in our small team and will grow and develop the fundraising function with us.

Job purpose: 

The Fundraising Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the financial sustainability and growth of the organisation. This role will play a critical part in securing funds from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government grants to support our programs, exhibitions, and operations. 

Key responsibilities: 

  1. Fundraising Strategy Development: Develop and deliver a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the museum’s mission, goals, and financial needs.
  2. Donor Cultivation and management: Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and government agencies. Create relationships with existing donors to ensure continued support.
  3. Grant Writing and Research: Research grant opportunities and prepare compelling grant proposals and applications. Manage the grant application process, reporting, and compliance.
  4. Corporate Partnerships: Identify and engage corporate partners for sponsorships, collaborations, and support. Develop mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance the museum’s visibility and impact.
  5. Event Planning: Plan and execute fundraising events, including donor receptions, and other fundraising activities to engage donors and generate financial support.
  6. Budget Management: Develop and manage the fundraising budget, tracking expenses and revenue to ensure financial goals are met.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate with the museum’s leadership team, to ensure alignment of fundraising efforts with overall strategic goals.
  8. Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, track donor interactions, and generate reports to assess fundraising progress.

Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience in fundraising, preferably within the nonprofit sector, with a successful track record of securing grants and major gifts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling grant proposals, donor communications, and reports.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage and inspire donors and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in donor database management and fundraising software.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Passion for the mission and values of the organisation and the charity sector.
