Head of Development & Communications – Tullie House
Salary: £45,000
Hours: Full time
Term: Permanent
Location: Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle CA3 8TP
Closing date: 5:00 pm 1 December 2022
This is a new role and a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and committed Senior Leadership Team who are working collaboratively to significantly change the cultural offer of Carlisle, initially through the implementation of a transformational masterplan called Project Tullie.
The masterplan is phased and very ambitious. The organisation is currently delivering Phase 2 and developing Phase 3 (funding applications for further phases have been submitted). This post will collaboratively lead the match funding campaign focusing on developing relationships and submitting applications to trusts, foundations and businesses. You will further develop a successful and growing Patron’s scheme, oversee memberships and lead on charitable messaging, whilst increasing awareness of the museum’s manifesto and programme to galvanise support.
The new position is vital to our success. In addition to fundraising, you will have responsibility for steering the Marketing and Communications Team recently appointed, to help us better communicate our sector-leading manifesto, help us grow our audiences and inspire people to engage with world-class collections. We aim to enrich lives and be the heartbeat of Carlisle’s cultural life.
You will have the opportunity to take a good look at how we do things and work out how to take us forward. You’ll take over a high performing team with lots of potential to deliver even more. You’ll also spearhead a new culture of audience understanding and supporter development. Developing existing systems and bringing in processes and organisational change required for us to build long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our supporters – and local-residents especially.
This is a transformational position. We are seeking the right candidate to take advantage of this and provide the opportunity to be involved in one of the most ambitious museum projects outside of London.
