Heritage Collections Coordinator – The Scouts Heritage Service
Salary: £29,486
Hours: Full time
Term: Permanent
Location: The Scouts Heritage Service, Gilwell Park, Chingford, London
Closing date: 11:59 pm 15 September 2024
With over 588,000 members in the UK as well as a huge number of former Scouts we are constantly collecting new material both contemporary and historic. Come and help our team uncover and share the story of Scouting with new audiences.
We’re a small enthusiastic team who are passionate about what we do. We support each other and learn from our individual experiences and expertise.
The Heritage Services’ mission is to create enabling environments where users can discover and be inspired by the story of Scouting, the Movement and its members. As we get to know the Collection better we are constantly uncovering amazing stories covering over 117 years of history.
In this role you’ll coordinate the management of the Heritage Collection to best professional standards with particular focus on carrying out the donations processes and reviewing, making recommendations for rationalisation, key areas of the Collection.
Through these processes you will ensure the assets are documented, stored and cared for to enable the Collection to be accessible for audience engagement through displays, exhibitions and loans.
The stories held in the Scout Heritage Collection are full of surprises from tales of innovation and adventure to bravery and brilliance. In your role you’ll help us add to these stories, and the best bit is they are still happening, so you’ll work with staff and volunteer colleagues from across the organisation as we create the heritage of the future.
