Ford & Etal Estates lies in the valley of the River Till on the English/Scottish border and has a rich history. The Estates is home to a number of heritage attractions including two accredited museums and the Flodden 1513 Ecomuseum. This role will take the lead in maintaining the Estates’ heritage profile from a heritage and tourism perspective. The position will involve a mixture of archival and curatorial duties, developing and collating the Estates’ written records and objects displayed, whether donated or out on loan.

The Estates has certain heritage compliance obligations to meet, in relation to its Designated Heritage Property and registered museums; it will be the responsibility of the Heritage Curator to take ownership of these areas. Furthermore, the role will also involve maintaining and strengthening the heritage offering of the Estate from a community and visitor perspective, to ensure the Estate’s history is properly interpreted for the benefit of Estates visitors, as part of the Estates’ tourism enterprise.

This role to include maintaining a relationship with relevant statutory, non-statutory and charitable organisations and bodies with a heritage remit.

The salary range is £13,000 to £14,000 for 20 hours a week.
