Inclusive Heritage Associate – Port Sunlight Village Trust / The University of Manchester

We’re thrilled to advertise an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with The Port Sunlight Village Trust (PSVT).
The University of Manchester and PSVT are looking to recruit an Associate with specialist knowledge or interest in difficult heritage/history to undertake this 18-month project. The overall aim of the project is to transform the ways in which PSVT interprets its history, site and collections with its stakeholders through the design and delivery of pilot projects specifically in relation to the village’s founder, William Lever, and the exploitation of Lever Brothers’ Congolese employees in the twentieth century.
The position will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to:
- Embed expertise in emerging anti-racist heritage practices and engagement design respecting the diverse needs of a wide range of visitors, residents and staff.
- Develop a new research strategy to support interpretation and co-production at Port Sunlight
- Reimagine the future direction of heritage interpretation at Port Sunlight and help shape organisational change
- Co-create interpretation with Port Sunlight’s stakeholders and wider communities.
