INTERPRETING KIPLIN 400
Thanks to National Lottery players, Kiplin Hall and Gardens is creating new interpretation in several spaces across its site, funded by a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant. The project is working with 3 target audiences that traditionally have not engaged with Kiplin to produce imaginative new interpretation both inside the historic hall and in the gardens that will tell the stories of Kiplin as it celebrates its 400th anniversary in 2025.
Objective
The objective of this tender is to recruit an interpretation producer to design and install interpretation in two spaces inside the Grade I listed building and in a garden space. Kiplin Hall CIO will tender and hire professional interpretation design and production services to undertake the following work.
- To design, produce, and install interpretation, including a digital product, that provides visitors context of the four families and 400 years of history at Kiplin in the Entrance Hall.
- To design, produce and install interpretation exploring the role of servants at Kiplin in a hands-on experience in the Kitchen space.
- To design, produce and install a series of outdoor interpretation in the parkland and Maryland Garden exploring the journey of the Ark and Dove ships to Maryland in 1633-1634.
- To provide hardware and software in suitable formats, with consideration of the constraints of a Grade I listed building.
- User testing in consultation with project co-curation groups.
- Outputs to be in line with Kiplin Hall and National Lottery Heritage Fund’s standards in relation to brand guidelines, visual language, access and licensing requirements.
