Interpretation & Exhibitions Manager – Nothe Fort and Tudor House

Job Title: Interpretation & Exhibitions Manager
Salary: £28,000
Hours: Full time
Term: 2 year fixed term contract
Location: Nothe Fort, Barrack Road, Weymouth, Dorset DT4 8UF

Weymouth Civic Society runs two museums in Weymouth: Nothe Fort, winner of Visit England’s Gold Award 2022 for Small Visitor Attraction, and Tudor House.

This role is central to the development and ongoing success of both museums. We need someone who can tell stories to people through permanent or temporary displays and exhibitions in a way that maximises engagement and creates brilliant memories. This will be an exciting and rewarding position for someone who wants to be instrumental in the delivery of new interpretations and a modernised interpretation culture that will continue to be delivered at the end of the contract.

Located in a busy seaside resort, we have a diverse range of visitors. The person who fills this role will have a natural feel for how different people want to experience a museum or historic site and be able to express their insight both creatively and practically. We want to engage people through their emotions, kinaesthetic participation, educational play and sensory stimulation.

We welcome applications from people with backgrounds in museums, heritage, visitor attractions and related fields.
