Learning Officer – Scarborough Museums and Galleries
Salary: £24,200
Hours: Full time
Term: Temporary fixed-term contract to March 2024 funded by Arts Council England.
Location: Scarborough Museums and Galleries (SMG), Scarborough YO11 2PW

About the role
Learning is pivotal to making Scarborough’s culture and heritage accessible and creatively engaging to all. Our learning team is committed to creating and delivering meaningful and imaginative events, programmes and activities to ignite curiosity and deepen engagement with and understanding of the collection. You will work with a range of different museum audiences including school groups, youth groups, university students, families and learners of all ages.
In consultation with the Senior Learning Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining the museum’s learning services, with specific responsibility for the delivery and potentially the development of our formal and informal learning programme. You will be confident in working with all key stages and across the breadth of the National Curriculum. You will also provide administrative support in bookings and data collection to ensure the smooth running of workshops and events. This includes responsibility for the administration of our Arts Council England funded Museums and Schools project.
You will be qualified to degree-level or equivalent in a relevant subject with hands-on teaching or museums experience OR equivalent experience of delivering learning in an education or museum/gallery context. You will be up to date with developments in museum learning and be able to think creatively.

About Scarborough Museums and Galleries (SMG)
Located in the beautiful Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough, SMG manages three venues of historical and cultural importance – Scarborough Art Gallery, the Rotunda Museum of Coastal Geology and Woodend Gallery and Studios.
