Learning & Outreach Officer – The Society of Antiquaries

The Society of Antiquaries is delivering a 2 Year public programme of learning activities, special study days, exhibitions and late events called ‘Sensing History at the Society of Antiquaries’ beginning in April 2023.  Subject to Sensing History’s success the post will be extended.

We are looking for a creative, passionate and skilled educator to develop, deliver and evaluate up to 2 high quality learning workshops per month (24 per year) for schools and community groups in Greater London.  The post will also be required to support the Burlington House Team develop and deliver 2 Late ‘Open House’ Events per year.

You will have experience of developing and delivering learning activities for both schools and groups of adults.

You will be an effective and warm communicator with knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum and how this works in a non-classroom environment. Knowledge of ‘Learning Outside the Classroom’ and ‘Kids in Museums’ initiatives would be a distinct advantage.

The appointee will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with the determination to provide unforgettable learning experiences at Burlington House. A keen interest in history and the material culture of the past will be an advantage.

Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory disclosure report from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

This position is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the John Murray Family.

Salary: £16,200 for 3 days a week (£27,000 FTA) plus 10% pension contribution; Medicash benefits; 17 days holiday and pro-rata privilege days
