Marketing and Sales Director – Ironbridge Gorge Museums
Salary: £55,000
Location: Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Shropshire
Closing date: 12:00 pm 16 August 2021
Founded in 1967, the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust Ltd is a registered charity whose twin aims are education and heritage conservation.
The Trust cares for 35 scheduled monuments and listed buildings within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site and operates 10 award winning museums which collectively tell the story of the Ironbridge Gorge’s universal significance for its unique role in the development of the Industrial Revolution. The museums receive around 450,000 visits a year including 70,000 school visits. This unique site extends to over 73 hectares (180 acres), most of which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
The Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust is now looking to recruit a dynamic and forward-looking Marketing and Sales Director, who will join Ironbridge at a pivotal moment for the organisation as it reopens following the Covid-19 pandemic.
There are a number of exciting projects underway including an outdoor adventure experience for children and young people, due to be completed by summer 2021, as well as developments in areas such as conferences and banqueting, a wedding facility and an Ironbridge membership scheme, all of which will be led by the Marketing and Sales Department. The team is being rebuilt to complement these strategic developments and there is real opportunity for the Marketing and Sales Director to come in and contribute to the vision of Ironbridge in a post 2020 cultural landscape.
The postholder, a member of the Senior Management Team will work closely with colleagues to help develop the Museum’s future strategy and success, particularly around a commercial offering. Candidates will bring senior marketing experience and excellent commercial acumen. They will have strong interpersonal skills and will be a key ambassador for Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust with the communications skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. The postholder will have a passion for arts and culture, ideally with a strong interest in the work of the trust.
