Amazing Grace 250 – Celebrating a Diverse Legacy

This summer Cowper & Newton Museum is marking the 250th anniversary of one of the world’s most beloved hymns – Amazing Grace. The Museum is at the centre of celebrations in Olney and is recruiting a Museum Development and Marketing Officer to help them maximise this opportunity over the summer and support the legacy of the anniversary activity.

This role is suitable as a freelance or employed post.

Salary:  £20k per annum or fixed fee. IF EMPLOYED, plus pension, annual leave of 20 days pro rata

Summer programme of events:

  • To project manage the Summer Programme of Events with collaboration with the House Manager and Heritage Engagement Officer.
  • To maintain and build relationships with local community interest groups and sponsors to ensure all potential users of the museum feel safe and welcomed.
  • To investigate and as appropriate seek corporate support and sponsorship for the Summer Festival at the museum or other agreed areas of development.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Contribute to the creation of social media and print content to maximise participation in museum events and increase identified income streams.
  • Develop a plan for a potential 2024 legacy project.
  • Complete the evaluation report to deliver to Milton Keynes Community Foundation at the end of the project (October).

Museum Development:

  • Maintain and build relationships with local interest groups and businesses in Olney and Milton Keynes.
  • Lead on the evaluation of the events and the use of Museum spaces.
  • Research and produce a report for the Board of Trustees which identifies the feasibility of and need for a temporary or permanent activity space for the Museum.  Some initial work has already been undertaken.
