The Council are seeking a Museum Development Officer for Essex who can enhance the level of professional support and guidance for museums and heritage sites in the county.
Duties of the role
Do you have museum experience? Could you help museums big and small to develop and meet the needs of their audiences? Colchester and Ipswich Museums (CIMS) is looking for someone with a strong knowledge of the museums and heritage sector to join our wide-ranging Heritage team as the Museum Development Officer (MDO) for Essex. This is an opportunity to make a real contribution to a growing area of activity and support a major part of the county’s rich and diverse heritage.
Qualifications and skills required
You will need experience of different museum activities, such as collections care, audience engagement and learning, and the ability to disseminate best practice in a way that is accessible and flexible. The role involves working with museums across the county and helping develop effective partnerships, so requires someone who is an excellent communicator, able to manage a busy workload and is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
