The Museums of the Royal College of Surgeons in England (RCSEng) wishes to appoint a brilliant new Museums Learning Co-ordinator.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative person with a passion for engaging with museum audiences to lead on the development and delivery of inspirational and unique learning programmes for the Hunterian and RCSEng Anatomy and Pathology Museums. The new programmes will be aimed at a wide range of audiences including: schools, families and community groups.
Background
This is an exciting time to join RCSEng Museums. Following a six-year closure and re-development the Hunterian Museum re-opened to the public in May 2023. While the RCSEng Anatomy and Pathology Museum re-opened, for professional audiences including students studying medicine and healthcare courses, in October 2022.
The Hunterian and the Anatomy and Pathology Museum are world-class museums: The Hunterian https://hunterianmuseum.org/ welcomes around 100,000 visitors a year and the Anatomy and Pathology Museum https://www.rcseng.ac.uk/museums-and-archives/anatomy-and-pathology-museum/ is a unique specialist learning resource, open to healthcare professionals and students.
About the role
Linking informal and formal learning activities, on site and on-line, to the content and themes of the Hunterian Museum and RCSEng Anatomy and Pathology Museum. The post-holder is responsible for the development, planning, promotion and delivery of new learning programmes aimed at school, college and university students.
Ability to prioritise, multi-task and deliver to deadlines. The post-holder is responsible for facilitating all learning visits to RCSEng Museums and leading on the delivery of schools sessions.
To develop, on site and on line resources for teachers and students. To research and develop options for on-line learning and hybrid events.
The post holder will be responsible for the development of new audiences and the initiation of new innovative events for the Anatomy and Pathology Museum to engage with Further Education groups covering health care subjects.
The post-holder will, as required, undertake other work to support RCSEng Museums audience engagement.

You are someone who believes in the power of museums to transform lives through inspiring, object-led learning. You are someone who enjoys working with young people and can be flexible in accommodating different learning styles.
You are an enthusiastic, positive and creative person with a proven track-record in creating, developing and delivering successful learning programmes and resources for teachers and students, family and community groups.
You are committed to your own professional development and keep up to date with best practice in museum learning ensuring visitors receive a positive learning experience. This will be measured on a regular basis through evaluation, to be arranged by the post holder.
