An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Porters’ Lodge Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Porters’ Lodge Manager, you will be the first point of contact providing a warm welcome for all visitors to Bletchley Park.
You will be responsible for monitoring entry to the site, offering advice and directions where appropriate and communicate the presence of business visitors to their hosts. You will also provide cover for the Porters’ Lodge, as needed, to welcome visitors and maintain records as appropriate, assisting with mail receipt and delivery, in an organised and prompt manner. This position will work as part of a team with shared responsibilities and a focus on excellent customer service at all times.
Most work will be outdoors and will include some manual duties and the lifting/carrying of heavy items. This is a uniformed position and a smart appearance is required.
The successful candidate will have experience working with security and entry procedures within a customer focussed environment. They must be a self-motivated team player, able to manage workloads to meet deadlines, and be courteous and helpful with a customer focussed outlook. As an effective communicator, they will be able to listen and convey information to others clearly and be able to deal calmly and effectively with difficult situations, should the need arise. A full clean driving licence is also required.
This position will require you to work 72.5 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday on a rotating schedule of 33 hours one week and 39.5 hours the next including working weekends. Occasionally extra hours will be required, and these will be paid at basic rate.
The salary is £21,375.90 per annum and is based at Bletchley Park. Benefits include 33 days holiday per annum pro rata, including statutory holidays, company pension scheme, death-in-service and healthcare cash-plan.
