Project Manager – Chamberlain Highbury Trust

The Trust is responsible for the management of one of Birmingham’s most highly prized and valued heritage buildings and gardens. Having recently secured a substantial development grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we now seek to appoint a Project Manager to embark on the development phase, estimated to run for approximately 18 months. The Trust are extremely passionate about the vision for the restoration project and are determined the result will serve the community for generations to come providing education space, opportunities to engage and develop young people, entertainment venues and social enterprise offerings.

The Project Manager will be required to work with the Trust and senior stakeholders to develop, complete and submit a round 2 application to NLHF for a delivery grant. You will be working in accordance with agreed timescales and approved resources. You will be required to ensure the proposed project, to be funded through the delivery grant, has the widest possible support from local communities and businesses and you will be tasked with managing the associated stakeholder engagement. You will be coordinating a multidisciplinary team and, in collaboration with the Trust, procuring appropriate professional advisors with expertise in landscape architecture and quantity surveying amongst other key tasks. The vision is for the property and gardens to become a major attraction in the West Midlands that will promote education and training as well as events and weddings. The role is likely to be require approximately 2 days a week of your time and will require some travel to Birmingham.

Salary is up to £450 per day.

The initial engagement of the client project manager will be for a fixed term up to 20 September 2025 with a break permissible at either your or our instigation in September 2023.

What you’ll need to succeed:

You will need to be passionate about the value of restoration projects and the positive influence and impact heritage buildings and gardens can have on communities. You will need to have a demonstrable track record in the heritage and restoration space and be familiar with NHLF processes and expectations. You will need to be a strong leader and communicator and will be required to influence and guide effectively. The estimated cost of the entire capital development project will be £7-8m so you will need to have successfully delivered similarly sized projects from development phase to implementation.
