The Arts Council is one of the biggest funders of museums activity in England, but many organisations and individuals in the sector aren’t aware of this – can you help us increase applications from museums in the South West?

The Arts Council is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic advocate of culture and creativity to be our next Relationship Manager (Museums) on a permanent basis. This full-time role which is based in Bristol and covers the South West region, offers a favourable salary of up to £35,225 per year and benefits. Working as part of the South West area team with a cohort of Relationship Managers across disciplines, and closely with the national Museums and Cultural Property team, you will contribute to the shaping and delivery of Arts Council strategy (Let’s Create) across the South West. You will manage a portfolio of organisations from across the region and will advise on and assess funding applications from individuals and organisations across the cultural sector.

  • Managing a portfolio of funded organisations from across the South West
  • Advising on and assessing funding applications from individuals and organisations within and beyond the museums sector
  • Contributing to Area cultural placemaking work.

To apply for this role, you’ll need good knowledge and experience working in or with museums. You’ll also need:

  • An ability to support the development of the museum sector in the South West
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work well across the sector and within Arts Council across various teams.
  • Knowledge of business planning, financial reporting and cultural placemaking
