Sales Assistants – Shakespeare Birthplace Trust

The Trust is looking for four Sales Assistants to work across the pop-up catering offers at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s Birthplace and support the existing team in the Birthplace Shop and Retail Warehouse over the summer period from 21 March to 30 October 2022.

£8.91 per hour increasing to £9.50 per hour from 1 April 2022.

Day-to-day tasks in the pop-up catering offers at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s Birthplace will involve till operation, the production of hot and cold beverages, general cleaning duties, monitoring stock levels and unpacking deliveries, basic food hygiene safety checks and helping to ensure the efficient and profitable operation of the pop-up catering offer.

Day-to-day tasks in the Birthplace Shop will involve till operation, merchandising of displays, unpacking deliveries, adding value to customers’ purchases and experiences, advising prospective visitors of the Trust’s offer and helping to ensure the efficient and profitable operation of the Birthplace Shop.

Day-to-day tasks in the Retail Warehouse will include receiving stock into the warehouse, picking and distributing orders from stock, loading and unloading vans, processing online shop orders and using the inventory software. You will need to be able to lift heavy objects and hold a full driving licence.

You should be willing and able to work across all areas as we need to be agile and flexible in our work in order to respond to customer demands and staffing needs.

The pop-up catering offers at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s Birthplace are open seven days a week 11am to 3pm. The Birthplace Shop is open seven days a week 10am to 5pm. The Retail Warehouse operates five days a week 8.30am to 4pm.

You will be contracted to work 14 hours per week but extra shifts will be available. You will be required to work weekdays, alternate weekends and a fair share of Bank Holidays so you should be flexible and available.

Previous catering and/or retail experience is beneficial. Excellent customer service, an enquiring mind and an outgoing personality are essential.
