Lancashire County Council are seeking an inspirational, dynamic, and innovative manager to lead and develop our museums.

If you are passionate about bringing our collections and buildings to life to inspire and engage the public this is the post for you. We require a manager who has track record in making a difference in the promotion of museums and heritage and can inspire staff to do the same.

We are at an exciting stage in the development of our museums and if you are up for a challenge this will certainly be the role for you. We want you to challenge and develop your teams and yourself. We are looking for someone to drive and deliver the changes that we are making whilst supporting your team of equally dedicated staff. You will drive excellence and motivate your team and yourself, even when faced with tough decisions and difficult choices.

Location: Lancashire (rated one of the best places to live in the UK)

This is a permanent post. You will have an agreed base within county although regular travel to museums will be necessary as part of the role.  The hours are 37 per week, worked Monday to Friday, with some element of flexibility.

Development opportunities include succession planning, professional and academic qualifications, opportunities for personal growth and development, multidisciplinary initiatives, mentoring, the opportunity to make a difference, feel valued and achieve the job satisfaction which you’ve always dreamt of.

Inclusivity and diversity: we don’t have a “one size fits all” philosophy, we embrace diversity and the richness that it brings and that includes around both personal and family requirements; feel supported whenever you need.

We offer a comprehensive induction, great succession plans for our team, supportive work-life balance including working from home, flexible working, and tangible wellbeing initiatives plus regular supervision and support available whenever you need it.

If you would like an informal discussion or any further information, please contact Ian Watson on 01772 535910.
